STEP 1

Using the Tonic Tim Holtz stamping platform I stamped some of the butterfly images using Memento Black Ink on Dove white Hero Arts cardstock ...Gosh! I'm loving that cardstock.  It feels a bit rough to the touch. I mean it is not silky smooth and it is not white -white BUT  it is stunning to use with hybrid inks and alcohol markers. 

Look at those colours and I didn't do any fancy Copic Colouring. I actually only used the  5 different Colours you see in the picture above and I did some minimum blending.  

I then heat emboss one of the sentiments in Fluttering By  Stamp Set on black cardstock using Nuvo Clear Ink and Nuvo Glacier White Fine Detail Embossing Powder.

Tip: I used a micro fine tip pen to correct any embossing imperfection and my banner looks utra black - ultra neat. Nice!

The next step was to add dimension to everything.

I used Sticky Thumbs to adhere the butterflies on the front panel and I trimmed the wings that were picking out the edges. I used craft foam behind the front panel to adhere it on a C6 standard American card base using Nuvo Deluxe adhesive.

I embellish with Nuvo Amethyst Gemstones, Nuvo glitter accents and I also applied Nuvo Shimmer Pen all over the images to add sparkle

Hi everyone, welcome to Happy Bee Day Blog Hop - Day 2!  We are celebrating Honey Bee Stamps 4th birthday and their biggest release ever, available in their shop here!

I enjoy Honey Bee Stamps not only because of the high quality of the products and their beautiful designs but because the love they seem to put in every single aspect of the business. Parcels beautiful packed, amazing customer service and the people behind the business is supportive and sweet as honey.

I'm truly honoured to have had the chance to be part of their journey as a member of their design team during the last couple of years. 

To celebrate, I made love- friendship - encouragement cards using: " Oh my Whiskers stamp set", Oh my Whiskers die set",    "You are purrrfect stamp set",  You are purrrfect Honey Cuts ( die set)  and I also used "Watercolour lines Cover Plate" (background die).

Those kittens are stinkin cute!!!! aren't they?

I stamped the images using Pumice Stone Distress ink on Arches watercolour paper and I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor paints to add colour.

I also used Zigs  ( water-based markers) to add darker areas and little hairs to the kittens.

I like to add hair to stamped little animals and this is very easy to do. I have a video here to show you how I do this.  I basically apply a light one or two washes of colour over the whole image and when the paper is dry I  add several little lines using brush tip watercolour markers in different colours. 

For the background of all the cards in this post,  I  used Hero Arts Dove White cardstock.  I did some ink blending over this paper and I die cut the panels using "Watercolour lines Cover Plate die".

For this first card, I  applied  Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink over the Hero Arts Dove white paper using a Nuvo sponge. I applied a heavier layer of ink at the bottom of the panel, a lighter one at the top and a very very light one on the centre of the panel.

Using a Nuvo Mist bottle, I  sprayed water on the background to create white freckles. When the paper was dry I then splattered it with a black, a dark blue,  a red wine Nuvo Aqua flow pen and I also splattered it using a Nuvo Shimmer Pen.  This adds a lot of value to the composition.

I embellished with  Gold Lights Confetti Mix , Nuvo Crystal Glaze and Nuvo Dream Drops.

I wanted to guarantee colour coordination for this card so  I used the same soft blue watercolour paint to add colour to the background and two of the balloons in the image.

I used the colour #61 from the   Kuretake Gansai Tambi  36 Color set.  This is a beautiful creamy watercolour paint.

To make the background of this card. I used one heart dies from Stacking Hearts Honey Cuts (die set)  by honey Bee Stamps to create a mask.  I then placed the mask on the paper and I applied Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink over it.

I removed the heart mask and with the sponge slightly inked I applied a soft layer of the ink to fill the heart image that was completely white. This allowed me to create a smooth transition between the masked image and the background colour.

So I found the images from Piece of Cake stamp set by Honey Bee Stamps perfect to learn a lot of different things when using watercolours or markers  (Copics)  but of course, you can just add a wash of colour without the fussiness and you will be done in a few minutes.  

You can have a better look at the gorgeous artwork and this stamp set also has a coordinating die set! 

I  stamped the images from Piece of Cake stamp set by Honey Bee Stamps on bristol smooth paper using Antique Linen Distress Ink and I added colours with Zigs and Arteza Markers using a water brush.

I applied a little bit of colour at the edge of the image and I spread the colour towards the centre of the image using a water brush.  If the tip of the water brush gets too inky I clean it to make sure I get very light shades of colour at the centre of the image.

Once you finish applying a few layers of colours I  trace very fine lines with the tip of the watercolour markers to add little hairs or fur... This is very easy to do.

I then used the cloud stencil in Outdoor Scene Builder pack with 4 stencils and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide ink to easily create a background for this card.

To add colour to the fences. I applied pink, yellow and brown Zigs markers on my glass table ( or glass mat), I spray water over the inks and I dabbed the die cut fences on top so the paper absorbed the mix of colour and as a result, I got a distressed pinky - yellow look on the die cuts.  

I also used Chevron Arrows background stencil to apply Wild Honey Distress Oxide Ink and Tea Dye Distress ink over the die cut fences to add extra texture.

To finish,  I  also splattered the fences with a Nuvo shimmer pen and a dark red Nuvo Aqua flow Pen.

I glued down the fences using foam double sided adhesives and I had the idea of  folding the fences die cut to create a  gate. Voila!  

  

Using the  Tim Holtz Stamping Platform I stamped the sentiments ( word by word) using Versafine Onix Ink.  this ink performs nicely on watercolour paper and it is also great to work with waterbased inks as it won't bleed or blend.

I wasn't planning to make a video but I couldn't resist sharing part of the cardmaking process with you.

Here is another picture so you can see the size of the frame a little bit better. It is a small frame.

I also partially heat embossed the plant pot using silver embossing powder.  I was experimenting trying to create a terracotta plant pot with metallic accents. 

I found the little frame adorable and you can stamp any sentiment or motivational quotes to make it even more special.
